The Very First Steps of Starting your Own Business

Published on February 3, 2013 by in Edward Slinin

Turning your business dreams into a reality can be an extremely daunting task, especially if you are not quite sure how to get started. Many people have great ideas, but few actually act on them. Remember that if you never try, you can never be sure what could have happened. Some of the greatest companies in the world have been started with little more than a dream.

The initial idea is what usually starts interest in starting a business. For some, the idea just comes to them out of nowhere. Often a brilliant business idea stems from a need. For example, the person who invented the pizza cutter may have been struggling to cut their pie with a knife, and then – Eureka! Keep your eyes open on a day to day basis, and try to think of ways you can improve things!

Brainstorming can be a very long process. The important thing is that you don’t try to rush your ideas. Put on some relaxing music, get out a notebook and pen, and just let ideas flow through you. Some of them may end up being downright laughable, but eventually one will stick. Don’t give up just because you have a few duds.

One great way to get your creative juices flowing is to look to other successful people for inspiration. One excellent motivational story is that of Edward Slinin. When he was a young man, Edward Slinin worked as a chauffeur, driving clients around in a limousine. He took that basic concept and ran with it, and today he owns the largest luxury vehicle service – Corporate Transportation Group.

There are many similar stories, of people taking matters into their own hands and rising from rags to riches. This is the American dream, and we all have endless potential that we can put to good use. Trustng in yourself is an integral part of the process, and you will not be able to achieve anything until you truly believe that it is possible.

Once you have the initial idea, it is time to start figuring out how to make it happen. Even if you start incredibly small, progress is still progress. For instance, if you wanted to open a bakery, you could start by perfecting your recipes. Once you feel that you have a quality product, you can go to some local bakeries and see if they are interested in selling your pastries. Eventually, you could look into renting a space of your own.

It is important to break up your business plan into steps, so that it doesn’t become too overwhelming. Remember that anything is possible, you just need to go about it in the right way. If you fail, try again. The people who are truly successful in this life are not the ones with the most money; it’s the ones who try hard and achieve their dreams on their own.
